river derwent 30/4
Had a wander down the bank to Blackhall Mill this afternoon for a couple of hours on the river, set up 9" ft #3 rod hot orange post klinkhammer olive and an olive quill nymph 2" under it new zealand style, there was a good hatch of large olives coming off.
I noticed a fish rising close into the far bank so as gently as I could I slid into the water to try and get the rite drift, casting 4" above the rising fish I watched the klink disappear and lifted into a lovely brownie of about 1 1/4 lb...nice start. Wading up through different pools and runs I managed to pick off another 8 trout the smallest being 10 inches and the largest of just under 2 lb all falling to the nymph...things don't get much better.....

That's a method ive never used on the rivers. I use it on still waters with a buzzer under a big klink but never thought about rivers.
What size nymph do you use?
