went to the river last night just after 10pm, even though it was very breezy, fished a couple of lies nothing. talked to a few guys who said they hadn't seen anything, went downstream to a nice run within a few mins had a solid take. the fish started crashing around & jumping about like mad, finally after about 20+ mins landed it a lovely fresh silver salmon around 18lb mark. first ever salmon on the fly from the wear & got it on my new rod...............lee

Thats a big fish . Was that the small rod you were talking about.
I use a ten foot 7# rated rod and 13 pounds my best fish that puts a right bend in the rod.
Nice to read that fish are moveing upstream.

Hi, I was using a greys 9ft 6" grxi+ 6# with 8lb line on ferryhill water, thought my line or rod was going to break a few times but thankfully they didn't. we all had salmon for tea yesterday & loved it, still got some left for another day too. trying to add pic but don't know how.....lee

Thought it was only me that couldnt work a computor Lee.
I wish i could of took a picture of the fish that got me barred from the seatroutforum and the salmonforum. Saying that the person who got me barred wouldnt look at the real fish.
Is that number one for 2013 ?.
I tell more people to try for salmon and sea-trout.
Its all down to confidence.
Most fish i catch i never see them they just tighten into you and then try and drag me down to Hendon.Very Happy

Well not a report on the fish but the river got a good flush through this weekend rose and dropped by over a foot on Sunday.

We certainly needed a spate because weed was flowing down the river last time i was there.
Thanks for telling us that good news and lets hope we hear about fish getting caught or even running through the fish passes:D .
