Do you know what tactics you are going to start off with?

Do you know what line you will use?

Flies??

I know when I am going out on the river I know what flies and line I will start with...although these do change sometimes once I get in to it

Just curious to know if it is just me?

Depends where I am going, and how I am getting there, If its local weather should be about the same as home so wont take as much, if its traveling will take more fly selections with me as the weather can be completely different even at 10 miles away Shocked
Rod choice is easy 2 x10 foots a six and an eight, line choice is simple too, most of the time I use a floating line, but occasionally opt for a midge tip or intermediate, not very often I use a full sinking line, the waters around here just don't warrant the expense (i just count down double with a sink tip for further depth) Wink Fly choice I take a lot Shocked probably too many but you never know what will work on the day till you get to the water.

I'm tackling allmost always up at the water, depends on where I'm fishing, if it's river or stillwater, not to forget the weather conditions

Before i go fishing i know pretty much exactly what i am gonna start with. Obviously it can depend on where the fish are in the water column but the flies will most likely be the same.

On the river I always start with a ftn on the point and a greenwells on the dropper unless it's mayfly time. Seems to work for me.
The still waters depends on the day but usually it's 2 rods one floating line and one inter. As for flys we carry loads around but when it comes down to it it's usually something black, something white or something blobby.
