Sweethope Fishery Report 21st July

Fish Report-Sweethope Loughs July 15th –July 21st 2013

Warm water, blue skies, sunshine. Is this really Northumberland? Even in these conditions the visiting angler has been able to tempt the trout away from the cooler waters on the bed of the lakes.

Those visiting early and late in the day have been able to catch on the surface with dries and conditions should improve this week with some cooler weather.

The two best fish of the week, both caught in the small lake were a 4lb blue trout, caught by Gary Smith of Red Row and a 4lb 8oz rainbow, caught by John Renfree of Monkseaton on a Daddy.

In all we were visited by 49 anglers who caught a total of 59 fish, 33 of which were returned.

Successful fly patterns were: Dawson’s Olive, Daddies, Hare’s Ear, Buzzers, Peach Muddler, Crazy Cat, Black Fritz and PTN.
