Sweethope fishery report 21st September
Sweethope Fishery Report 21st September 2015
In contrast to last week-end conditions over the last few days have been nigh on perfect. Anglers have been catching fish on dries nymphs and lures, according to their preference. Probably the majority of fish have been caught on dries, buzzers and diawl bachs.
Yesterday we were visited by the Ashington Kingfishers who had a great days sport, holding their Sweethope Loch Style Competition. The day was a great success and 24 anglers from the club caught and returned 88 fish, a rod average of 3.66.
The competition was won by Alan Morton who returned 8 fish for 10.01 kg. Second was Keith Row with 8 fish for 8.63 kg. and third Scott Nellins with 8 fish for 7.53kg.
Other notable achievements this week were by John Scott who took three fish and returned 17 on Thursday, Tony Barclay who returned 16 on Friday and James Carr who returned 12 also on Friday.
Statistics:
Number of fish to the net: 315
Number of fish returned safely: 275
Number of anglers: 86
Successful fly patterns: Daddy, Hopper, Black Gnat, Shuttlecock, Muddler, Sedge, Sedgehog, Olive, Bloodworm, Dawson’s Olive, Cat’s Whisker, Yellow Dancer, Blue Flashback Damsel.
