Competition Rules
This is a fun competition. Please treat it as such. However, please read the event rules which all entrants must comply with ensuring everyone is fishing fairly.

Boat Pairings
Entry to the competition is by a team of two anglers per boat, they will fish together throughout the competition. You can enter as a team of two people or book your space individually and be paired up on the day.

Fishing Time
The competition will be fished from 10.00 to 16.00 hours.

Maximum Fish
12 Fish per boat then time bonus.
Once 12 fish have been landed in the boat, fishing will cease and the boat must return to the boat Jetty.
When you have returned to the boat jetty, your finish time will be recorded and confirmed by the organiser.
Please leave your fish in the boat until the end of the match (tackle can be taken back to your vehicles if required).
Accidentally foul hooked fish will count towards the total bag weight.

Time Bonus
Time bonus of 2lb per full hour (1/2 lb per full ¼ hour) will be added to the actual weight of fish weighed in (taken from the recorded finish time noted above). Match results will be decided by the total weight of fish; the higher weight taking the higher placing.
In the event of the weight of fish being caught by more than one boat pairing (including times bonus) the result will be based on the largest fish in the 12 fish recorded.
All competitors must report directly to the weighing-in point immediately after the competition finishes.
Nil returns are required.
Competitors not reporting at the required time will be deemed to have a nil return.

Fishing Rules:

Drifting Boats
The Competition will be fished from drifting boats (boats drifting broadside), a drogue may be used, but the boat must be allowed to drift and no use of the oars or anchor is allowed except in the case of an emergency (during which time fishing must cease).

Fishing Rods Entrants must fish with one fishing rod not exceeding 12 feet in length at any one time, although spare rods (length as before) may be taken into the boat. Spare rods may not be assembled in any way i.e. no sections may be joined, nor should a reel be mounted nor a fly line attached.

Flies Fishing shall be with artificial fly only.
Only 4 hook points allowed on a leader at any one time.
Fishery Rules apply on fly sizes and weighting of flies.
Strike indicators are allowed.
Fly lines, Leaders & Retrieves A competitor’s rod when working flies or retrieving casts, must be above water level and the rod must be held at all times.
The "Roly-Poly" style of retrieve is allowed.

Boat Etiquette

Fishing must be "over the front" of drifting boats and competitors are not allowed to cast behind the boat whilst at drift.

Trolling or trailing of lines behind or under the boat is not permitted whether the boat is drifting or being driven by engine or oars.

During a match, boats must not encroach within 50 yards of another boat when fishing. Thwart boards, tackle boxes and boat seats with back supports are allowed, Competitors must not stand in the boat when casting or retrieving line. Competitors may stand when playing or landing a fish.

Drogues must be inside the boat when motoring.

Boats must not deny reasonable access to other boats when in confined/ congested areas by repeated short drifts. Special care must be taken in such circumstances, particularly when manoeuvring the boat.

Electronic Devices Mobile telephones may be taken onto the boats, they must be turned off and may only be used for emergency purposes e.g. illness of a competitor, engine failure etc. Mobile telephones or any other electronic communication device may not be used to communicate with other competitors under any circumstances, either by voice message or text message.

Fish finding devices are also banned from use during the day of the competition.

Safety and Disputes

Competitors must wear buoyancy aids and are advised to wear eye protection when either travelling in, or fishing from, boats.

Competitors should raise an oar to alert Match Officials should assistance be required. During competition hours no boat will be beached except for medical emergencies, damage to boat/oars, failure of engine or being overtaken by storm.

In the event of dangerous weather conditions, or any other circumstances, the Match Organiser may alter the start time and change the hours of fishing to whatever he or the Fishery Management feel is in the best interests of the competitors. This might mean that the match will be postponed and held at a later date.

In the event of any query concerning this rule, the Match Organiser's decision will be final.

There may be occasions when the organisers will need to amend the rules for some reason, or local fishery regulations may have to be imposed or the match postponed to a later date; whatever the reason, the match organiser’s decision will be final and binding.

Fish at no extra cost
When the competition has finished at 16.00 (or earlier if they have caught their limit) entrants may return to the water and fish till sunset on a catch & release only basis.
