Sweethope Fishery Report 13th April 2015
A mixed week of weather has seen rain, snow, sleet, sunshine, calm and wind from every point of the compass but the fishery has been very productive. An impressive 47 rainbow were brought to the net in the Great Lough and 10 in the Little Lough on Easter Monday by only 11 anglers and a further 31 rainbow and 4 blue trout were caught on Friday by only 5 rods. The largest fish was a 4lb 8oz blue trout, caught in the Little Lough by Mitchell Fawcus.
A total of 171 rainbow, 5 blue and 4 brown trout were brought to the net by 45 rods. 27 fish were taken and 153 safely returned to the water.
More stock was added on Friday and the water should now be fishing really well. This week we produced a rod average of 4.04
Successful fly patterns illustrate the mixed conditions: Hares ear, diawl bach, hopper, bibio, beetle, emerger, bloodworm, apps worm, squirmy, cat’s whisker, nomad, damsel nymph, dawson’s olive.
