Sweethope Fishery Report 11th August

Fish Report-Sweethope Loughs Week Ending August 11th 2013

This week has seen a mixed bag of weather from torrential rain on Monday when only one rainbow of 2lb was caught on a sedge to calm and sunny mid week with bags of 15 and 27 fish on Thursday and Friday.
The heaviest fish of the week was a 4lb 8oz rainbow, caught by Jim Tuck on a Daddy.
We were visited by 47 rods, catching a total of 87 rainbows,2 blue and 1 brown trout of which 60 fish were returned.
Successful fly patterns were: sedge, pheasant tail, daddies, blobs, muddlers, Montana, bibio, ace of spades, yellow fritz, cats whisker, Dawson’s Olive.
On Sunday in windy conditions which would not have been out of place on a Highland Loch in Autumn we held a loch style boat competition. 18 rods took part and a total of 38 fish were caught and returned.
The competition was won by Andy Campbell with a total of 8 fish.

Fingers crossed my fishing will be back on track with a trip to sweethope on the 31st
