I keep up to date with the N/East fishing when i log onto [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and it was reported that one angler on the River Wear caught and returned 12 salmon on BAADAC water. Seems to be more Salmon than Sea-Trout getting caught. Even i am encouraged by reports like that.
Two salmon have been reported on the Tees caught but i would think more have been caught and returned but are not reported because of fear of massive price rises in leases.
The Tees needs to recover a lot more to get anglers to return . Hopefully with more water through the Barrage and more access fish will spawn in the Tees.
Cant believe that the season will be over soon for migratory fishing.I hope the grayling season doesnt get washed out. Cold water doesnt stop the Grayling feeding ,its the heavy floods that kills the sport.
I used to catch some big Wear Grayling around the Escomb part of the river. We used brandling and the bob float.
I caught on big Grayling on a dry Black Gnat which in the late 70s would have been a fly i bought from Adams in Darlington.Happy days:)

Get out there and amongst them!
With just over a fortnight left I'm sure it would be nice to not send a 'zero' return to the EA.
