Thanks to RAF Boulmer

Post by Dazkat on Tue Jun 11, 2013 8:01 pm

I'd just like to give a big thankyou to RAF Boulmer who air lifted my son off a crag near Belford. He fell while doing a climb and hurt his back. The paramedics could not move him so they called in the RAF to take him to A&E. They did a fantastic job getting him to hospital quickley.
It was a bit fanatic last night as they thought he had fractured his lower back. He was high as a kite on morphine and was more worried that he didnt get to see out the window of the seaking and he was going to miss his health and safety assessment for GOape!!! That was a assessment for dealing with falls!!!
He has been very lucky as it turns out he has Chipped a bone and has massive muscle damage. It could have been so much worse. He is now how very sore and on more pain killers then maddog!!!
We are always quick to criticize our Local A&E but the staff last night were first class and helped us through a difficult time. I cant praise then enough.

Sea King pilots are true heroes.
Makes my hair stand up on end when I see one- but imagine what a welcome sight they are for those in trouble in remote areas or at sea.
I doff my cap to them all.

the RAF search and rescue do one hell of a job , with little recognition .
hope your son recovers quickly Daz , he's one lucky lad not to have been seriously hurt . just remind him only cats have 9 lives .

Thank you all for the kind words. He was a very lucky lad. He fell about 5m when his safety nut came out. He landed on his boulder mat and bounced onto his back. The doc told him if he didn't have the mat he would have shattered his feet and legs.
It's going to take a bit of time and some physio but he will be ok.
