Thought i would mention this Czech Nymph method of fishing because the Grayling Season is in the swing about now.
I have not done a lot of Czech nymphing but when i first tried it i caught Sea-Trout on Nov 3 on year.
I have made the flies and i won a book about Czech Nymphing.
Their is a website [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] czechnymphing.com and ive now learnt they have a facebook account .
As ive said before i am new to computors but looking on the facebook site its not only Grayling that anglers use this method for.
I found that fish liked gold bead patterns when they came into fashion, then this Czech Nymph style came into fashion.
Its all about getting the flies down to where the fish are feeding on the bottom.
We do have some of the best grayling rivers here in the North East and with the E/A stocking the Wear and Tees in recent years it doesnt cost a fortune to fish and a lot of the rivers offer free fishing.
So instead of hanging your rod up over winter try the Czech Nymph also a pink Czech Nymph can be deadly for winter grayling.Smile

It is really a deadly method of fishing rivers, either for graying or trout. I czech in the summer fo trout when the weather gets hot and the trout move into the faster water for oxygen...I fish the derwent which in comparison is a small river so I only use two flies as there is not a lot of room for swinging a nine foot rod about. But if you can get you hands on Oliver Edwards Master Class DVD on Czech Nymphing do so, its well worth a look as well as his other river DVD's.
