Hello fellas,
I am thinking of heading off to Sweethope tomorrow as I have heard some good reports about the place.

Now I've never been before and I'm only used to fishing the smaller stillwaters so I'm a bit worried about how I'll cope on a place as big as this, also what methods and flies...will it be pretty much the same as as fishing everywhere else? I use a 6wt outfit will this be ok?
Sorry for so many questions but thanks in advance.

Regards Ian

Ian Alexander

Hi Jen
You will need waders for the big lake. I caught using both inter and floating lines on Sunday just gone. Most Flys I tried got a response. Buzzers, black cats, black fritz, hot head damsels, blue Zulus all got fish and plenty of dropped as well. All on the top lake.
Hope that helps a bit.
Darren

Hi Ian

The fish seemed to come in waves on the big lake. I used a floating line with a long leader on both rods. One with lures and the other buzzers and cormarents. I had fish on both outfits.
The thing to do is wade out and go for it Smile

Hello,
Many thanks Darren, appetiser, and Daz.....looking forward to it now, going to head off early I think, it's my day off.
I have my waders ready but I've resisted the temptation to put a beachcaster in the car Laughing

Thanks again lads, Regards Ian.
