I have got a 34lb thrust, but if I was going to get another one I would go for more power like a 50lb. In a strong wing you sometimes need the extra power. You will also need a leisure 12volt 110amp/hour battery and a battery charger. Its a bit of an outlay initially but it saves you a lot of rowing if your going to go in a boat regular. If you look after them they will last for years.

Seddo was selling his boat gear not long ago and was an absolute steal at the money he was asking, it was a great bargain.

I have been using these motors for over 20 years.

I have tried many kinds.

Here are my thoughts which may be different from others.

First of all I think a 50 pound thrust may be too much.

Yes it is good to have the extra power.

However they do eat up the batteries.

I have settled on a 44 lb thrust which provides enough power and ekes out the battery.

You need to be aware that if you are Loch Style Fishing for every doubling of the wind speed the battery consumption goes up four times.

You drift faster and so need to go back up the wind more often and you use more of your battery to do so.

With regard to the batteries I prefer two at 60 ampere hour, which is more versatile.

For a small water or mainly anchoring you only need to take one and they are much lighter to carry.

When taking both you can leave the spare one in the bow and this helps to balance the boat.

Carrying two smaller batteries is easier than one huge one and the 110 a/h ones are HEAVY!

Buy deep cycle or leisure batteries as car and wagon types are not sutable and will not last. Although if you have some use them.

Also buy an automatic charger and keep the batteries frost free in the winter.

Sealed batteries are best and the gel ones best of all.

This will be a major outlay for a complete system but they are really worth it.

That rowing will never catch on!

My boat gear is now sold Stew, pity you didn't ask earlier as it was a bargain if ever there was one.

Hope you get fixed up soon as it makes fishing a venue easier and you can get to places bank anglers can't reach.
