pies n cakes

Had a top day down at Whinney yesterday with Ricky,Stu,Rob,Andy and Peter.Weather was dire for most of the day though the rain did ease off in the afternoon.Wind was howling and it was`nt the warmest!Rob was first on the water and was`nt long in pulling them out.Soon we were all fishing and i had a good start with a few fish on Rickys damsel pattern.Went a bit quiet for me so i made my way round to near Rob and Andy.Had a floating line with a weighted blob on,no indicator though,i was casting either upwind and lettting the wind drift it back down or casting across wind and letting it blow round.Normally i`d have a buzzer/nymph combo on with this but its single fly only there for anybody that has`nt been.Picked upa few fish before it was time for me to go get the pies on for the lunch.Typically when i was in doing this the rain eased off and it brightened up a little. The afternoon was`nt as wild and i had loads of pulls on various flies and methods.I found the fish were lying deeper but i could see Rob was fishing the indicator about 3/4ft down.I was tweaking a fluffcat along the bottom or i had the bung set at 8ft.Could`nt hookup with the bung and Andy was having similar probs.Managed a couple on it later on,though i did bring the bung up to 5ft.Ended the day on the opposite bank, had a few pulls but nowhere near what it was like on the other bank.We all ended up back in the lodge and had a bit of craic with another pie and a tasty cake!!! Very Happy Very Happy

Sounds like a bit of a wild day Andy, still managed some fish though and some good craic and those pies, lovely !  Smile  wouldn't mind a trip up in New Year weather permitting or maybe Alderneuk ? Merry Xmas to you and Ricky !
